Lethal Obsession

Part of an award winning advertising campaign that was aimed at doctors rather than patients in an effort to persuade them to prescribe something called Xenical as a ‘fat blocker’. However I think it also refers to unhealthy eating and the damage it can cause to people. I think that this is an effective piece of advertising.... your eye is drawn straight to the imagery which actually looks rather appetising from afar, then you become to analyse the picture and realise its true meaning.

This is a great peice of advertising, i love the fact you only see the secondary pictures such as the skull on your second glance. The choice of using realistic photographs also adds to the overall impact.
Def a good idea behind it all!

The first picture esp looks so fatty, but the structure of the campaign is good, like liz said in most of the posters there is a double take needed so you get the point, very clever piece manipulating the food to form what you want.

Wow! Clever piece of advertising-making you study the piece in order to get the message so then obviously it will stick in your mind more so than some others you may see during the same time period. I had to look at the pizza one for a fairly long time before I realised what the cheese was forming but no matter how places advertise about how bad these foods are I just think it is too late to change most people's minds. The people who are actually obsessed with these foods won't change in my opinion-we just need to emphasise these horrors on upcoming generations.
