New Cadburys Advert... Spot the link between a gorilla and chocolate

While watching the end of Big Brother, this advert appeared during the break for Cadburys dairy milk...a new advert that certainly caught my attention...I did not really know how I felt about it though...It definately made me stop and take note...was it the Phil Collins backing track or possibly the drumming monkey, I am still not quite sure. Maybe it was due to the fact that it had nothing to do with the chocolate, it was something new, different a lot more experimental for Cadburys. I think it will make people stop and talk about it.

This in an article from The Guardian about the new advert...

Some people do not get it...Some people are laughing so hard that sides are splitting...What is your opinion?

I definitely admire this advert. I have not made my mind up if I like it or not, but I do admire their bravery. It made me laugh the first time I saw it, but also made me wonder at the choice of a Gorilla drumming. I think it is designed to show having fun and joy as they said in the Guardian article, but this message in my opinion is (if the right one) is not immediately obvious.

I suppose as you said the random nature if nothing else is bound to make people talk about it.

i saw this ad too and posted it on my blog before seeing you had already. It made me giggle the first time i saw it and at first i did not know what it was advertising and i was puzzled. The gorilla is so random but like you said will definitly get people talking as the ad is such a change from the previous cheesy ads showing families sat round a tv all sharing a box of dairy milk.

Just look how many people are talking about it. Just this morning a woman asked me if I had seen it. I think it is a huge success and for that reason, I like it a lot. The gorilla's expressions make me laugh too. Quite different from Chris Cunningham's Monkey Drummer.

That monkey drummer is so bizzare...Think I prefer the drumming gorilla.

When I first saw this there were about 5 of us watching the TV in absolute silence-glued to the TV and mesmerised by this gorilla playing the drums...was certainly a first! The gorilla loves playing the drums as much as we love eating dairy milk. It certainly did the job-it has everyone talking about it and we all know what it is advertising now!
